Well I am back in Monrovia safe and sound. I arrived on Aug 7 around 7:30 at night. The traffic was terrible and so I didn't get to the apartment until just after 9 after clearing customs and finally getting my luggage.
I was really worried that my luggage didn't make it but eventually it come around the carousel. So all was good. Each piece of checked bags weighed 63 pounds and so I was worried they didn't make it.
There were lots of goodies and treats and also many things I needed for the apartment and so it was a relief when it finally showed up.
So when i walked into the apartment it was like walking into my second home. It was familiar to me and felt okay.
I miss my family dearly and this home here isn't the same as my home in Calgary but it is home for now and I am trying to make it as comfortable as I can.
I brought over with me a bunch of pictures of the family and also of the Temple and other pictures and so it feels just a little more comfortable.
Now that I have been here a week it doesn't seem like I actually left but I did and I had a wonderful time at home. Just way to short.
And so now for a couple of pictures.
As you know we get to travel business class and in my first blog I showed a picture of the seat I was given. Well this time around I ended up on a different plane and so in business class they had these pods that each person was given. They are individual areas and so it is a little bit more private and a little quieter. I thought I was in something out of star wars when I walked in but they were quite comfortable and it was a good flight.
And then you arrive in Liberia
Here is your local street vendor selling bananas and so you see these all around the city. Just a table and some items for sale.
I just thought this was a unique store front. So does this mean that they sell fresh and frozen food or is their fresh food frozen. Just not sure with that and so I had to snap a picture.
This is a picture of a mail box on the street. Not sure if anyone actually drops mail in it but you see a few of them around and it is different. I am not sure if it is ever collected or not. We do get mail at the office but I am not sure how or where it is delivered or picked up. Just another unique picture from my home away from home.
Just another picture of the streets we go down each day. The city sure is unique and it is all good.
Well that is it for this week. It has been interesting transitioning back. I enjoy my time at home so much and was able to get a ton of stuff done. It went way too fast. The highlight was seeing family. We were able to have everyone at our house for a couple of days and it was so good to touch base and see each other and just spend time together. Like I said the 15 days went by too quick but the people I saw back home and the people I talked to on the phone it was special time for sure.
Darla is coming over here in October for 2 weeks and then I am home for 2 weeks at Christmas time and so you go with the flow and do what you can.
I was welcomed back to the office and to the Church branch with open arms and so even though the transition has been hard it has been good to see my "other" family and friends again.
So hope all is well in everyones life and that things are well. So until next time. Be careful out there.
